The meeting

There was no scheduled speaker as the meeting was to report back on the projects we have done or are underway.

Healthy Heroes – Robert reported that the programme is still underway but split across two terms because of COVID.

Nga Manu – David Bruce is leading the project.  The Board has agreed to fund the establishment of the programme. We are looking for sponsors for the running of each course - about $5,000 each time.  the first week long course is scheduled for the end of Term 1 school holidays in 2022.

Community Hobbies and Interest Expo – Steve reports that interest in the expo is high and so a date has been set being Saturday 5 March 2022 and the Memorial Hall booked.

Youth projects – Richard (through Steve) advised that the Summer Science forum for 2022 has been cancelled.

A nomination from Rodger McCormack for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is being followed up.

Lifting the Lid - Steve advised the project has helped close to 30 kids to receive up to 8 session of counselling services across the district.  Clubs in the Porirua area and Hawkes Bay are interested in following the model developed here.

School prize giving - the club has continued its support for Waikanae and Kapanui Schools, and Paraparaumu College with prizes and the Rotary Scholarship award at the college.

Pride of Workmanship Award - David Bruce reported that this event is set for April 2022.  All clubs in our area are expected to provide a nomination and secure bookings for a table or two.

Note: Alison Jarden will be formally inducted into the club at our Christmas meeting.
