Club Notices

We note with sadness the passing of Graham Benbrook on Saturday 18 June peacefully at Eldon Lodge.  Graham was a vibrant and active member of the Club.  He was presented with a Paul Harris Fellow, then a PHF with Sapphire (the first club member to receive this honour).

Graham was kind enough to donate his mobility scooter to the club to sell and use the funds for project work.

The recent Foodbank Collection across the district went well, although donations of food and money were down on 2 years ago.

Here in Waikanae we collected 42 boxes of food and $574.70

Thanks to all those who participated - Members, friends and associated groups

The Nga Manu Education project has been nominated for a Wellington Airport Community Award.

Another example of how this simple project is getting more and more visibility.

Celebration

Wednesday 10 August 2022 for the final celebration of the Rotary Club Of Waikanae.  It will be 56 years to the day, as the club was chartered on 10 August 1966.

The event will be heavily subsidised by the Club, however there is likely to be a small donation to the trust as koha from those attending.

Venue : Waikanae Boating Club

Club Update

We are progressing towards becoming a Chapter of the Rotary Club of Mana Tangata from 1 July this year.

A number of steps still have to be taken to achieve that, but things are on track.

The following members will be transferred to the Rotary Club of Mana Tangata - Waikanae Rotary Chapter

  • Steve Botica
  • David Bruce
  • Richard Campbell
  • Rodger mc Cormack
  • Robert Nugent

The remaining members have had their resignation registered with Rotary International as at 30 June 2022

At the moment meetings are ad hoc and infrequent and likely to be on a Saturday morning rather than in the evening as before.

We're on a journey to reinvent ourselves as a group and re-shape the face of Rotary here in Waikanae.

Exciting times!
